II. And be it further ena6ted by the Authority aforef^jjl. That it fliall and may be lawful to and for his Majefty, his Heirs and Succefibrs, by the faid Letfsrs^tent of Incorporation, to impower the faid So- ciety to make By-laws from time to time, for the Regulation and Government of the faid Society ; and for the Regulation and Management of the laid Trade and Commerce which fliall be_ carried on by them ; and for the curing forting and packiiig their White Herrings in fuch Manner, as eftedtually to fecure the Credit of the faid Commodities in Foreign Markets ; and for the Government of the Servants, and others employed bv the faid Society in the faid Fifheries. III. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That it {hall be lawful for the faid Society, from time to time, to dire£t what Seals or Marks they fliall think proper to be put on all or every Barrel or Calk of their Fifii ; and that if any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever fhall counterfeit fuch Seal or Mark, or fhall knowingly afHx fuch Seal or Mark, fo counterfeited, to any Barrel or Cafic of Filli not belonging to tlie faid Society, fuch Perfons fliall forfeit and pay the Sum of five hundred Pounds for each Offence, to be re- covered by A£tion, Plaint or Information, in any of his Majefty's Courts of Record at We/lmin/hr, or in the Court of SefTion in that Part of Great Britain called Scot/and ; the one Moiety to be paid to the faid So- ciety, and the other Moiety to be paid to fuch Perfon or Perfons as fhall fue for the fame. IV. And be it further ena£ted. That it fhall and may be lawful for h'^s Majefty, his Heirs and Succeilqrs, by his faid Letters Patent, to impower the faid Society, by a voluntary Subfcrmtion, to raife the Sum of live hundred thoufand Pounds ; which faid Sum, when fo raifed, fliall he the Capital Stock of the faid So- ciety ; and to dired how the Property of the Perfons fubfcribiiig may be afcertained, transferred and alie- nated,. ^^ . , V.
