the earthly and human heart, which are these: Who is God. What and how great is His Power, His Wisdom, Goodness; what the Divine Beauty. What God has done for man: and what, if necessary, He would yet do. With what dispositions He did it. What He does every day for man. What He will do for man hereafter in another life, if whilst he now lives he obeys His precepts for the sake of pleasing Him, and with simplicity of mind.
CHAPTER XVI.
Of Meditation on the Being of God.
WHAT God is, He Himself, Who has perfect knowledge of Himself, has told us, when He answered and said: "I Am that I Am."
And this which is here declared concerning God, may not be attributed to any creature; neither to Princes, nor Kings, nor Emperors, neither to Angels, nor to the whole world when taken together; because every thing has its being dependent upon God, and is in itself simply nothing.
