Sep. 13S0 at Monmouth, ami was, on 15 Oct. 1399, et. in Pari, l'rince of Wales, DUKE OF CORNWALL^) and EARL OF CHESTER, being, by charter of the same date, invested with the said Principality and Dukedom, together with the Counties of Chester and Flint, " sibi et heredibus suis, Regibua Anglic-" On 10 Nov - 1399 he "** declared DUKE OF LANCASTER in Pari., as also DUKE OF AQUITAINE in France, and that he should bear the titles of " Prince of Wales, Duke of Aquitaine, of Lancaster and of Cornwall, and Earl of Chester." On 21 March 1412/3 he ascended the throne as Henry V., when all his honours merged in the Crown. XVII. 1454, Edward ( Plaxtagenet), Duke of Cornwall, only s. to and h. ap. of King Henrv VI,C') b. 13 Oct. 1453, was, by charter dat. at 1471- Westm. 15 March 1-154 and confirmed the same dav in Pari., o'. Prince of Wales and EARL OF CHESTER, " sibi et htcredibus suis Regibua Augliio." He d. s.p., being murdered (2 weeks before his Father) 6 May 1-171, when his Peerage dignities lapsed to the Crown. Rictiard (Plantagexet), Duke of York (whose son, in March 1400/1, ascended the throne as Edward IV.), having obtained possession of the person of the then King, Henry VI., was, on 25 Oct. 1460, declared by consent of Pari., HEIR apparent to the Crown and PROTECTOR ok the Realm, and was granted /or life the Principality of Wales and the Counties of Chester and Flint, under the style of Prince of Wales. DUKE OF CORNWALL, and EARL OV CHESTER. He d. 30 Dec. 1460, aged 48, being slain at Wakefield when the dignities thus granted to him for life expired therewith. XIX. 1471, Edward (Plantagexet), Duke of Cornwall,( c ) s. to and h. ap. of King Edward IV, 6. 2 Nov. 1470, was, by charter 1483. 25 June 14.71, er. Prince of Wales and EARL OF CHESTER being invested, by charter 17 July following, with the Principality of Wales and the counties of Chester and Flint, at which latter date ho was also er. XX. 14S3, Edward (Plantagexet), Duke of Cornwall and to Earl ok Salisbury, s. and h. ap. of King Richard III, was b. 14S4. 1473 and was by charter 24 Aug. l lSo" (under the name of "Edward, eldest sou of the King") er. Prince of Wales and EARL OF CHESTER, with rem. to his heirs, Kings of England. He d. unm. and v.p. 9 April 1481 when kit Peerage dignities lapsed to the Crown.
