VISCOUNT LOFTUS OF KLY II.] Ho was b. about 1687, being only surv. s. and h. of Henry Loftu.s( :1 ) of Loltus Hall afsd., by his second wife, Anne, da. and h. of Henry Chewkeiix, of Exeter, co. Devon. He was M.P. for co. Wexford for many years, till, on 5 Oct. 1751, he was er, BAllON LOKTUS OF LOFTUS HALL.( b ) co. Wexford [I.], taking his seat 7 Nov. following ; P.O. [I.], 1753, being 3 years later a: a Viscount as above mentioned, and taking his seat, as such, 21 Nov. 1757; Gov. of co. Wexford. He m- firstly Anne, sister of Brabazon, 1st Eaul of Bessbobouoh [I,], 2d da. of William Poxsoxby, 1st Viscouxt Duxcaxxox [I.], by Mary, sister of Brabazon Moore. He m. secondly, Letitia, widow of his cousin, Arthur (Loftus), 3d Viscount Loftus ok Ely [I.], who d. 6 Nov. 1725, in his 82d year. He d. in Capel Street, Dublin, 31 Dec. 1763, aged 76. Will dat. 23 March 1758, to 26 July 1763. His widow d. s.p., 19 July 1765, at Summer Hill, co. Meath. V. 17G3. 2 and 1. Nicholas (Hume-Loftus), Viscount Loftus Earldom [I.] OF ELY, Sec. [I.], s. and h. M.P. for ISaimow, 1739; for Fethard, 1761. Custos Kot. of co. Wexford, 1761 ; PC. 11.], 1761. He was I. 17G6. er. 23 Oct. 1766, EAUL OF ELY, co. Wicklow [I.] He m., 18 Aug. 1736, Mary, 1st da. and coheir of Sir Qustavua Hume, 3d Bavt. [[.], of Castle Hume, co. Fermanagh, by Alice, da. of Henry (Mookk), 3d Eaul of Drogiif.ua [I.] In consequence of this marriage he assumed the name of Hume in addition to that of Loftus. She d. Oct. 1710. lie d. Wexford, 1744 ; M.P. for Bannow ; 111. 1/ II, seat ; n the House of Lords, 16 Nov. 1769. He was a:, to 2 Dec. 1771, EAUL OF ELY, co. Wicklow [I.], being introduced in 1783. Pari, as such 5 Dec. 1771. K.P., 5 Feb. 1783, being one of the 15 original knights of that order,( c ) but was never invested or installed, being out of the kingdom at the time (27 March 1783) of the first installation He m. firstly, in 1715, Frances, da. of Henry Monrok, of Uoe's Hall, co. Down. She d. Aug. 1774. He m. secondly, in 1775, Aune, da. of Hugh Boxfoy, Capt. K.N., by Anne, da. of Bichard Eliot, of Port Eliot. He d. s.p. 8 May 1783, aged 73, at Bath co. Somerset, when all his honours became extinct. His widow who long survived him d. 14 Aug. 1821, iu Grosveuor street, Midx. Her will pr. 1821. ( a ) This Henry (who d. 1716, aged 80), was 2d son of Nicholas Loftus, of Fethard (d. 1666, aged 74), the 2d son of Sir Dudley L. of Uathfarnham (d. 1616, aged 55), the s. and h. of Adam Loftus, Archbishop of Dublin, Lord Chancellor [I.], 1578-1605 (d. 1605 aged 72), which Archbishop was br. to Robert, tho father of Adam Loftus, cr. iu 1622, Viscouut Loftus of Ely [I.], as beforo stated.
