The Arch-Bifhops , Chief Commanders of the Forces ,' and Officers of the Crown and State, and Counfellers , before the Secret Council : All the Lords of Seffion , and all Members of the. Colledge'of Juftice , and others depending upon them, before the Seffion : The Lords of Judiciary , and: thofe depending upon that Court , in the Juftice Court i The Lords and other Members of the Exchequer , before the Exchequer: AllBifhops, before the Arch Bifhops : All the inferiour Clergy , CommiiTars, Mailers and Doctors of Univerfities , and Schools, Chaiplains and Pedagogues, before the Bilhops of the refpeftive DiocefTes : Sheriffs, Srewards, Bailies of Royalty and Regality, and thofe depending on thefe Jurifdiftions, before thefe refpeclive Courts : AndProvefts, Baillies and others of the Burgh , before the Town Council: All Colle&ors and Farmourersofthe King's Cuftoms and Excife, before the Exchequer; TheCommiffionersof the Borders, before the Privy Council ; All Juftices of Peace, before their Con- vcener • And the Officers of the Mint , before the General of the Mint ; And the Officers of the Forces, before the Commander in Chief; And common Souldiers , before their refpedfive Officers ; The Lyon ,before the Privy Council • and Heraulds , Purfevants and MefTengers at Arms , before the Lyon. And His Majefty, with confent fo'refaid , STATUTS and ORDAINS, that all thofe who prefently poflefs , or enjoy any of the forefaids Offices , publick Trufts , or Imployments , fhall take and fubcribe the following Oath ,' in one oftheforefaids Offices, in manner before prefcribed, betwixt and the firft of January next , which is to be recorded in the Regifters of the refpe&ive Courts , and Extracts thereof under the Clerks hands , to be reported to His Majeftie's Privy Council , betwixt and the firft of March next , One thoufand, fix hundred, eighty two, and thereafter in any other Courts , whereof they are Judges or Members, the firft time they fhall fit , or exerce in any of thefe refpeclive Courts: AND ORDAINS, that all who lhall hereafter be promoted to , or irnployed in any oftheforefaids Offices, Taifts, or Imployments , mail at their entry into , and before their excercing thereof, take and fubferibe the faid Oath , in manner forefaid , to be record- ed in the Regifters of the refpective Courts , and reported to His Majeftie's Privy Council , within the fpace of fourty dayes after their taking the fame: Andifanymallprefumetoexcercifeanyofthe faids Offices; or Imployments, or any publick Office , orTruft, within this Kingdom, (the King's Lawful Brothers and Sons only excepted ) untill they take the Oath forefaid , and fubferibe it , to be recorded in the Regifters of the refpecfive Courts , They fhall be declared incapable of all publick Truft thereafter, and be further puniihed with the lofs of their Moveables, and Liferent-Efcheat , the one half whereof to be given to the Informer, and the other half to belong to His Majefty. And His Majefty , with Advice forefaid , recommends to His Privy Council to fee this Act put to due and vigorous Execution. Follows the Tenour of the OATH to be taken by all Perfons in Publick Truft. Audi promife and fwear , that 1 ftoall' adhere thereto, during all the dayes of my lifetime , and f hall endeavour to e due at my Children therein: and' fhadnever confent to any change , or alteration contrary thereto : And that Idifbwn , and renounce all fuch Principles, 'Doctrines, orPraBifes , whether -Popifh, crPhanatical, which are contrary unto, andin-- confiftent with the faid Proteftant Religion , and Confeffion of Faith. i_Andfor teftifcation of my Obedience to my moft Gracious Soveraign CHARLES the Second , I do affirm, and fwear , by this my fblemn Oath, , That the King's CMajefty , is the only Supreme Governour of this Realm , over all Perfons, and in all Caufes,

And to my power fhall affifl and defend, all Rights, JurifdicJions , Prerogatives, Privi ledges, Preheminencies, and Authorities be- ' longing to the King's Majefty , His Heirs and Lawful Succejfours , And I farther affirm and f wear by this 'my fblemn Oath , That 1 judge it unlawful for SubjetJs, upon pretence of Reformation , or any other pretence whatfoever , To enter into Covenants or Leagues , or to couvocat , conveen , or affemble in any Councils, Con- ventions, or Ajfcmblies, to treat, confitlt, or determine, in any matter of State, Civil or Ecclefiaflick , with- out His Majeftie's pedal command , or exprefs licence had thereto , or to take up t^Arms againft the King, or thofe commiffionated by Him : And that Ijballnever Jo rife in Arms , or enter into fuch Covenants , or Affemblies.: And timf there lies no Obligation on me from the National Covenant, or the Solemn League and Covenant {focommony called) or any other manner of way whatfoever , to endeavour any change or al- teration in the •Government , either inChurch or State , as it is noweftablijhedby the Laws cf this King- dom.
