URSOVERAIGNE LOPvD, upon grave and weighty confide rations , finding it necefiary and of great import for the good of his Majeftie's Subjects , that the Summer Seffion in the Moneths of Sune and July yearly, befuppreft , and taken away : DOETH with advice and confent of his E dates f Parliament , STATUTE, and ORDAIN, That in all time coming , the meeting and fitting of ie Judicature of the Seffion, andColledgeofJuftic'e, fball only be yearly , from the firft of November", to lelaft of March Inclufive, and shat there be a furceafe of their meetings yearly, from the Twentieth and >urth of December , to the firft of January immediatly following. And inhibits , and difcharges the fitting jfthe Judicature of the Self ion in the faids Moneths of June and July, or any other time , but as the fame is ippointed, allowed, and prefcribed , bythisprefentAct. THE ESTATES of Parliament , confidering that the Excite of forreigne , and in-land commo- dities , impofed by the fourteenth Act of the firft Seffion of his Majeftie's firft Parliament , does ter- inar witth the life of His Sacred Majefty who now reignes , whom God Almighty long preferve. AND They being defirous, that the Royal Government of the Kingdom, fliould not be then deftitute of a due, nd futable fupport , for defraying the exigences thereof : THEY DOE THEREFORE, make ane humble and cheerful offer of a continuation of the Excife , for the fpace of Five years , to begin at the termination forefaid , to be raifed , levied , and collected , of the forreigne commodities fpecified in the [aid Act, at the rates mentioned therein, and in fubfequent Ads of Parliament , which are h'olden as here repeated : And likewife of the inland commodities of this Kingdom , and particularly of two merks Scots upon each Boll of Malt Browen, and fold, within the Kingdom , and three inillings Scots upon each Pynt of Aqua-vitae, and Strong- waters , not made oi Malt Browen, and fold, within this Kingdom. WITH POWER to His Majeftie's Royal SuccefTburs during the faids years, to nominat and appoint Collectors, and other Servants, for the collecting, and inbringing of the faid Excife, or to fe't the fame in farm to the •beft advantage as they fliall think fit. IT IS Ai-WAIES hereby D E C L A R E D , that then neither ! Commiffioners of Shires, nor Heretoars , ihall be iyable for the quota's of the Shires, nor ihali the Land- isnt be affected therewith , but that the fame ihall only be collected from the Brewers , Vintners , and Tap- pers over the whole Kingdom , according to the extent of their Brewing , and at the rates forefaids , during this faid continuation. IX. ACT Againfl pr final Protection?, September 6. i 6 8 i. AUR SOVERAIGNE LORD, and Eftates of Parliament , DOE Ratifie , and approve v/ all former Laws, and Statutes, made againft Superfedere's, and Protections ; And to the end the fame may be made yet more effectual , THEY Difchafge the Lords of His Majeftie's Privy Council , Seffion , and Exchequer , and Commiffioners of Jufticiary , to grant Protections , Licences, or Superfedere's, Certifying fuch as Ihall grant the fame, that they ihall be Iyable for the debt , upori which execution is ftoped by the laid Protection. And to the end fuch as are accefiorymay be clearly difcovered , They ordain that all Protections , Superfedere's , and Licences , fliall be figned by fuch as §rantthgm; And they declare that their figning thereof fhall prove againft them their voting thereto, and lall make all who figne' them, whether the Prefidertt of the Court , or others as Iyable , as if they had be- come Cautioners for the faid debt : And ordains that thefe Protections be recorded in the Books of the Court , which granted the Protection , and that extracts thereof under the Clerks hand , fhall make faith againft the granter.
