Monsieur le Ministre,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of the note of Your Excellency dated the 27th May, 1944 of which the following is a translation:

I have the honour to state that the proposals contained in the above mentioned note are most welcome to His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and that they agree to Your Excellency's note and the present reply being regarded as placing on formal record the understanding between the two Governments on the subject in question.

I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to Your Excellency the assurance of my highest consideration.
