CHAP. 376.-—An Act For the appointment of a ccmmisdou to make allotments of Juni. lm. lands in sovcralty to Indians upon tho Uintah Indian Reservation in Utah, and to ";"'”"‘—_‘ obtain the ccnsicu to the United States of all lands within said reservation not so allotted. , Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rqwosemtatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President of the Bjjgmhgaw R°¤· United States is hereby authorized and directed to appoint :1 commis- c»¤pm§.¤:q¤ to um sion consisting of not more than thrco persons, who shall, with the ]""°"°I'“d‘“““· consent of the Indians properly residing on the Uintah Indian Reservation in Utah, allot in scvcralty to the said Indians, and to such of the Uncompahgra Indians as may not be able to obtain allotments within the Uncompahgro Indian Reservation, agricultural and grazing lands as follows: To each head of a family, one-quarter of a section, with an M1¤•·¤¤¤¤¢¤- additional quantity of grazing land not exceeding one-quarter of a. section; to each single person over eighteen years of ago, one-eighth of a section, with an additional quantity of fmzing land not exceeding oneeighth of a section ; to each orphan chi d under eighteen years of age, 0nc—eighth of a. section, with an additional quantity of grazing land not exceeding one-eighth of a. section; to each other person undcreightecn years of ago born prior to such allotment, one-eighth of a section, with a like quantity of grazing land: Provided, That with the consent pmam of said commission any adult Indian may select a less quantity of land, ”"“*"""° ““°”· if more desirable on account of location. All necessary surveys to enable said commission to complete the surveysggtmeuts shall be made under the direction of the General Land cc. Sm:. 2. That said commission shall also obtain, by the consent of a sg·=¤¤i¤:f ¤· g¤{*{_·_} majority of the adult male Indians properly residing upon and having 1w5E? m" ° ° an interest in the ’said Uintah Indian Reservation, the ccssion to the United States of all the lands within said reservation not allotted or needed for allotment as aforesaid. The agreement for such ccssion ·"'“‘°*“°“·°*°· shall be reported by said commission and become operative when ratified by Act of Congress; and thereupon such ceded lands shall be held in trust by the United States for the purpose of sale to citizens thereof ; Provided, That the United States shall pay 110 sum or amount whatever P¤~*•·•{ for said lands so coded.
