United States of glmerica in Uongreas aaeewlbleeij That the Director c(§>°1ietgf¤it¢ii§ii:és_u of the Census be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to col- sp4°fiLd_°°d Pubhm lect and publish statistics concerning the amount of cotton ginned; the quantity of raw cotton consumed in manufacturing establishments of every character; the quantity of baled cotton on hand; the number of active consuming cotton spindles; the number of active spindle hours, and the quantit of cotton imported and exported, with the country of origin and destination. Src. 2. That the statistics of the quantity of cotton ginned shall °°“°“‘"‘“°°‘ show the quantity ginned from each crop prior to August 1, August P°"°°‘°"°°d°°‘ 16, September 1, September 16, October 1 October 18, November 1, November 14, December 1, December 13, january 16, and March 1: Provided, That the Director of the Census may limit the canvasses $6, August ,,6,,, of August 1 and August 16, to those sections of the cotton-growing '¤¤¤~ States in which cotton has been ginned. The quantity o cotton ,,g,‘§'§2,,"t{,¤'c‘§_P°'“ °' consumed in manufacturing establishments, the quantity of baled cotton on hand, the number of active consuming cotton spindles, the number of active spindle hours, and the statistics of cotton impprted and exported shall relate to each calendar month, and shall published as soon as gissible after the close of the month. Each mmreport published by the ureau of the Census of the quantity ginned shall carry with it the latest available statistics concernin the quantity of cotton consumed, stocks of baled cotton on hami the number of cotton-consuming spindles, and the quantity of cotton imported and exported. — All of these Bublications containing statistics of cotton shall be u°},_’§§,"f““°“ °'¥’“"‘ mailed by the irector of the Census to all cotton ers, cotton manufacturers, and cotton warehousemen, and to all daily news- _ papers throughout the United States. The Director of the Census ,m.I;{‘§$,,“,fd““A*;,,$*g‘f,fj% shall furnish to the Deplartment of Agriculture, immediately prior 1>¤w¤¤¤¤¤¤f¤¤¤¤¢’¤¤¤ · to the plublication of eac report of that bureau regarding the cotton °°P°°°` crop, the latest available statistics hereinbefore mentioned, and the sai Department of Agriculture shall publish the same in connection with each of its re rts concerning cotton.
