Maintenance of mammal and bird reservations : For the mainte- nanc e of th e Monta na Nat ional B ison Ra nge and other reserva tions and for the maintenance of game introduced into suitable lo calities on public lands, under supervision of the Biological Survey, includ- ing construction of fencing, wardens' quarters, shelters for animals, landings, roads, trails, bridges, ditches, telephone lines, rockwork, bulkheads, and other improvements necessary for the economical administration and protection of the reservations, and for the enforcement of section 84 of the Act approved March 4,1909 (U. S. C ., title 18, sec . 145), entitled "An Act to codify, revise, and amend the penal laws of the United States," and Acts amendatory thereto, and section 10 of the Migratory Bird Conservation Act of February 18, 1929 (U . S . C ., Supp . III, title 16, sec . 715i), $101,830 : Provided, That $2,500 may be used for the purchase, capture, and transporta- tion of game for national reservations, and not to exceed $13,500 additional for the purchase of privately owned land including improvements thereon, within or adjacent to the Nioirara Bird Reservation in Nebraska . Food habits of birds and animals : For investigating the food habits and economic value of North American birds and animals in relation to agriculture, horticulture, and forestry, including methods of conserving beneficial and controlling injurious birds and animals, $107,660 . Control of predatory animals and injurious rodents : For demon- strations and cooperation in destroying animals injurious to agri- culture, horticulture, forestry, animal husbandry, and wild game ; and in protecting stock and other domestic animals through the suppres- sion of rabies and other diseases in predatory wild animals, $590,480 . Production of fur-bearing animals : For investigations, experi- ments, demonstrations, and cooperation in connection with the pro- duction and utilization of fur-bearing animals raised for meat and fur, in the United States and Alaska, $64,360 . Fo r bi olog ical inv esti gati ons, incl udin g th e re lati ons, habi ts, geo- graphic distribution, and migration of animals and plants, and the prep aration of map s of t he life zones, and in cluding $24 ,900 for investigations of the relations of wild animal life to forests, under section 5 of the Act approved May 22, 1928, $83,110 . Protection of migratory birds : For all necessary expenses for enforcing the provisions of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of July 3, 1918 (U. S. C., title 16, sees. 703-711), and for cooperation with local authorities in the protection of migratory birds, and for neces- sary investigations connected therewith, $220, 120 : Pro vided, That of this sum not more than $20,500 may be used for the enforcement of sections 241, 242, 243, and 244 of the Act approved March 4, 1909 (U. S . C ., title 18, sees. 391-394), entitled "An Act to codify, revise, and amend the penal laws of the United States," and for the enforce- ment of section 1 of the Act approved May 25, 1900 (U . S . C ., title 16, sec . 701), entitled "An Act to enlarge the powers of the Department of Agriculture, prohibit the transportation by interstate commerce of game k illed in violation of local laws, a nd for other purp oses," including a ll necessary inves tigations in conn ection therewith .
