Capitol Buildings : For necessary expenditures for the Capitol buildings, iings etc. repairs to Building and electrical substations of the Senate and House Office Buildings, under the jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol, including minor improvements, maintenance, repair, equipment, sup- plies, material, fuel, oil, waste, and appurtenances ; furnishings and office equipment ; personal and other services ; cleaning and repair- in g works of ar t ; purch ase or exchang e, main tenance , and driving of motor-propelled passenger-carrying office vehicles ; pay of superin- te ndent o f mete rs, and $300 a ddition al for the mai ntenanc e of an automobile for his use, who shall inspect all gas and electric meters of the Go vernme nt in t he Dist rict of Columb ia with out add itional compensation ; and not exceeding $300 for the purchase of techni- cal and necessary reference books, periodicals, and city directory ; $341,554 .20, of which $70,000 shall be immediately available . The unexpended balance of the appropriation of $500,000 for the Bane available for reconstruction of the Senate wing of the Capitol, contained in the reconstructing. Legislative Appropriation Act for the fiscal year 1929, is hereby Vol. 45, p . 525. continued and made available until June 30, 1931 . Appropriations under the control of the Architect of the Capitol Travel lallowances . shall be available for expenses of travel on official business not to exceed in the aggregate under all funds the sum of $2,500 . Appropriations under the control of the Architect of the Capitol Personal services. shall be available hereafter for expenses of personal and other services . Capitol Grounds : For care and improvement of grounds surround- Improving grounds- in g the Capitol, Senate and House Office Buildings ; personal and other services ; care of trees ; plantings ; fertilizers ; repairs to pave- ments, walks, and roadways ; purchase of waterproof wearing enowremoval, a pparel ; and for snow removal by hire of men and equipment or R.
