Something went wrong
[edit]I was attempting to validate the article, when I was informed that I was unable to change to proofreading status. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thatoneweirdwikier (talk) 19:02, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
Sorry about that. I need @Peteforsyth: to re-validate. Thatoneweirdwikier (talk) 19:04, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Thatoneweirdwikier: Done, and no problem. As you probably figured out, if you mark a page "proofread" the software will prevent you from then "validating" it. So yes, it takes two, and sometimes this occurs in annoying ways. Do note, though, I restored my handling of the hyphenated word, to ensure it's rendered properly when transcluded. Another way you'll see this handled is with the {{hws}} template; I use this shortcut because it's quicker to do, and still renders fine on the page and on the transcluded work. -Pete (talk) 20:11, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Peteforsyth: If a page ends with "-", the software will join it with the following page while removing the hyphen and without inserting a space character. Thus for simple cases of words split across pages all you need do is leave the partial word and hyphen ("knowl-") on the first page and the software will take care of it. No need for {{hws}}/{{hwe}} or putting it in the footer. --Xover (talk) 09:53, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- Wow...thanks @Xover: I had no idea! -Pete (talk) 17:59, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
