The Papyrus of Ani is a Book of the Dead written for the Theban scribe Ani upon his death. The manuscript was stolen from an Egyptian storeroom by E. A. Wallis Budge in 1888, cut it into thirty-seven pieces for shipping, and transferred it to the collection of the British Museum, where it remains to this day.
