GATHER THE ROADSIDE FLOWERS.
O! gather the roadside flowers,
Though life be a thorny way;
   There spring at our feet,
   With fragrance sweet,
Bright blossoms wherever we stray;
Then gather the roadside flowers,
O! gather the roadside flowers.

O! gather the roadside flowers,
A word, a look, a smile;
   These all can give,
   'Tis the way to live,
Our toils and our ills to beguile:
Then gather the roadside flowers,
O! gather the roadside flowers.

O! gather the roadside flowers,
Of Hope, and Trust, and Love;
   Tend them with care,
   For fruit they bear
In the gardens of God above:
Then gather the roadside flowers,
O! gather the roadside flowers.

O! gather the roadside flowers,
Not long may we linger here;
   For shining bands,
   With outstretched hands,
Are calling in words of cheer—
Come, gather our roadside flowers,
Then gather the roadside flowers,
O! gather the roadside flowers.
