- His death. "David A. Piatt, retired farmer and life-long resident of Westbrookville, died Saturday at his home after a long illness. Born in Westbrookville December eleventh, 1870, he was the son of William Lewis Piatt and Minnie Franks. He was a member of Westbrookville Methodist Church. Mr. Piatt was married to Miss Mary E. Culver in November, 1893. She died in 1913, and in 1925 he married Mrs. Julia Gillette who survives him. Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Mrs. Millard Piatt of Cuddebackville and Mrs. Millard DeGroat of Kingston; three sons, Lloyd Piatt and Ellsworth Piatt of Westbrookville and Frank H. Piatt of Port Jervis; three step-children, Mrs. Bert Moore and Russel Gillette of Carlstadt, New Jersey, and Mrs. Albert Genham of Middletown; a sister, Mrs. James Nedham of Newburgh; three half-sisters, Mrs. Floyd Griffin of Westbrookville, Mrs. William McDowell of Middletown, and Mrs. Algie Skinner of Jersey City, New Jersey; a half-brother, Clarence Piatt of New Milford; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at two p.m. tomorrow in Westbrookville Methodist Church with the Rev. James Jamieson officiating. Burial will be in Westbrookville Cemetery."

- Death of his father. "After an illness of long duration. William L. Piatt, aged 83 years, four months and 15 days, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 1918 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William McDowell, 18 Mill street. … He is survived by the following children: John Piatt, of Cuddebackville; Mary Piatt, wife of James Needham, of Newburgh; David Piatt, of near Yankee Lake; Bertha Janette Piatt, wife of Floyd Griffin, of Westbrookville; Nora Belle Piatt, wife of Algernon Skinner, of Winterton; George Piatt and Clarence Piatt, of this city. Also, one brother, Daniel Harrison Platt, of Westbrookvile. The funeral services will be held Friday at 2 o'clock, at the Methodist Church, Westbrookville."
