Eschatology

Eschatology is a part of theology, philosophy, and futurology concerned with what are believed to be the final events in history, or the ultimate destiny of humanity, commonly referred to as the end of the world or the World to Come. The Oxford English Dictionary defines it as "concerned with ‘the four last things: death, judgment, heaven, and hell’".

Colour painting of the four horsemen of apocalypse (1887) by Russian painter Viktor Vasnetsov. From left to right: A skeletal rider holding a staff on a thin blue-green horse; A green-brown rider holding weighing-scales on black horse; A rider in a loin-cloth holding a sword on a red-brown horse; A rider with a crown and rich clothing holding a bow, with knocked arrow, on a white horse.
