James Joseph Norton
(1892–1961)

James Joseph Norton I (1892-1961) worked at various short term jobs. He was a switchman at the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western (DL&W) Railroad in 1910; a jewelry salesman; a security guard at Mutual Chemical in 1945; and his final job was as an elevator operator. He served in the United States Army during World War I. (b. November 18, 1892; Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA - d. January 02, 1961; 2600 Hudson Boulevard, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA) Military Service Number 4108718.

His death. "James J. Norton, 68, of 43 Emory, Jersey City, suffered a fatal heart attack yesterday while at work as an elevator operator at 2600 Blvd., Jersey City. During World War I, Mr. Norton served as a corporal in the Army. He was a member of the Albert Quinn Post, American Legion, and the Holy Name Society of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. The Richmond F. Routh Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. See death notice."
