Patrick J. Norton (1855-1905) was born on Saint Patrick's Day, March 17, 1855 in County Galway, Ireland. He was a migrant from County Galway, Ireland to Boston, Massachusetts, United States in 1880 or 1881. He was naturalized in 1888 in Boston, Massachusetts then moved to Jersey City, New Jersey around 1890 where he worked as a day laborer on the railroad. He died of septicemia in 1905 at the age of 50. Death of his wife. "Suddenly on Saturday, January 28, 1950 at the residence, 61 Clendenny Avenue, Sarah Jane Norton (nee Carr), beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Norton, and the late Katherine Langan; loving sister of Mrs. Katherine Kennedy and James Carr; also survived by six grandchildren."
Death of his sister from heart and kidney failure in Boston, Massachusetts at age 60. "In Roxbury, March 18, Catherine A., beloved wife of Patrick J. Murphy (nee Norton). Funeral from her late residence, 82 Francis st. Friday, March 21, at 8:30 a.m. Services at Mission Church at 9:30 a.m. High mass of requiem will be announced later. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited."

Death of his brother in Massachusetts. "In Roxbury, July 28, 1898, James T., beloved husband of Mary Norton, 42 yrs. Funeral from his late residence, 51 Woodward avenue, Sunday, July 31, at 1:30; services at St Patrick's church. Dudley avenue at 2. Relatives and friends invited."
Death of his daughter. "On Tuesday, July 26, 1898, Mary, daughter of Patrick and Sarah Norton, aged 7 months. Funeral on Thursday, July 28, at 2 p.m. from parents' residence, 101 Bright Street."
Him and his brother in a barfight with their cousin. "John Norton and Patrick Norton, of 103 Bright Street, had a bloody row with T. C. Conboy, of 292 Warren Street, last night. Officer Pendergast locked up all hands. When Police Justice O'Donnell today asked Conboy, the underdog in the fight, for the particulars concerning the row, Conboy tried to dodge the issue by claiming that his disfigured face was the result of a fall. The court thereupon committed the whole crowd to await examination tomorrow morning. By that time the justice thinks Conboy's memory will have been somewhat refreshed."

His petition for naturalization. "To the Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the United States, begun and holden at Boston, within and for the District of Massachusetts. Respectfully represents Patrick Norton of Boston in said District, occupation, laborer; an Alien and a free white person; that he was born in County Galway, Ireland on or about 17th day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and 55 and is now about 34 years of age; that he arrived at Boston in the district of Mass. in the United States of America, on or about the 22nd day of December in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and seventy two, being then a minor under the age of eighteen years."
