United Nations Verification Mission in Guatemala (MINUGUA)
The United Nations Verification Mission in Guatemala (MINUGUA) was created to verify compliance with the commitments established in the Peace Agreements that put an end to a 36 year internal armed conflict between government forces of Guatemala and insurgent forces of the Unidad Revolucionaria Nacional Guatemalteca (URNG). The mission's findings were submitted to the United Nations General Assembly in a series of verification reports.
