Difference.

hun-pie̍t,

a difference.

bô-sĩ-mih hun-pie̍t,

there is no great difference.

ũ-hun-pie̍t,

there is a difference.

koh-iēⁿ,

a different kind, or different.

koh-iēⁿ-chãi,

very different.

koh-iēⁿ koh-iēⁿ,

decidedly different.

tōa-koh-iēⁿ,

a great difference.

koh-iēⁿ se-su; koh-iēⁿ lân-ló,

a little different.

koh-iēⁿ koh-sièⁿ,

different manner and style.

i tàⁿ-ūe koh-iēⁿ,

he speaks differently.

i chò-sṳ̄ koh-iēⁿ,

he does things differently.

i só-kṳ́-tõng koh-iēⁿ,

that which he does is different (from others).

m̄-sie-tâng,

not the same,—tōa m̄-sie-tâng, greatly diverse.

kiau-tî-kâi sie-tâng?

with which one is it alike? (often implies difference).

ũ kâi m̄-sie-tâng,

some are not alike.

m̄-sie-tâng chiũ-mài,

if not the same I don’t want them.

àiⁿ-sie-tâng,

I want them alike.

chí--iēⁿ hṳ́--iēⁿ kak m̄-sie-tâng,

this kind and that, each is different.

sĩ-m̄-hû,

don’t correspond,—m̄-hû-ha̍h, don’t match.

kim-ji̍t kâi-ūe kũa-cha-ji̍t kâi-ūe m̄-siang-hû,

to-day’s words and those of yesterday don’t agree.

kiau-hṳ́--kâi m̄-hû,

don’t correspond with that.

uá só-tàⁿ sĩ-kiau lṳ́ só-tàⁿ m̄-siang-hû,

what I say is not in accord with what you say.

chua̍h-m̄-uãⁿ,

different not much.

chha-m̄-to; chha-put-to,

different not much.

kiãⁿ-kiãⁿ-chua̍h,

each one is different.

m̄-tâng-iēⁿ,

not the same kind,—m̄-chhin-chhiẽⁿ, not alike,

m̄-tâng-hō,

not the same brand.

m̄-tâng-mō,

not the same sample.

bô-chha-chhò,

no variation; no mistake,

m̄-hó-pí; m̄-hó lâi-pí,

may not be compared.

àiⁿ-pí chiũ-lâi-pí,

if you want to compare, come and compare.

bô-mih-jiên,

not any resemblance.

chí chiah, jiên-hṳ́ chiah,

this one is like that one.

ūe-lâi bô-mih-jiên,

sketched it not much alike.

ũ-ke-iēⁿ.

there are many kinds.

ũ-chōi-iēⁿ kak-m̄-tâng,

there are many kinds each different,

ũ-kâi-tōa, ũ-kâi-sòi,

some are large and some are small.

sie bô-kàu-húe,

burned not sufficiently (as of tiles).

m̄-ha̍h chhùn-chhieh,

don’t correspond to the measurement, i.e. out of proportion.

lṳ́ chò-nî m̄-tùi-uá chhó-chhiàng?

why do you not accord with the agreement.

kiau chhó-chhiàng m̄-che̍k-iēⁿ,

not the same as (I) agreed for.

kiau-uá sṳ-niê--kâi sĩ-m̄-tùi,

it does not agree with what (I) bargained for.

i hûan-ló-chãi,

he is very sorry.

chí-kâi-saⁿ bô-mih chheng-khih,

this jacket is not at all clean.

chhù-lāi kng-kng,

inside the house it is well lighted.

thiⁿ-sî mông-mông,

the weather is very hazy.

i chò-sṳ̄ tham-thû,

he does things in a dilatory way.

i nâng nńg-jia̍k,

the man is feeble.

a-nôuⁿ-kiáⁿ iùⁿ-iùⁿ,

the child is very young.

i lãu-tōa khang-kiẽn-chãi,

the old gentleman is very vigorous.

chí-tiâu-lōu ti̍t-ti̍t,

this road is quite straight.

chí-tiâu-lōu oh-kiâⁿ-chãi,

this road is very hard to travel.

lâu, che̍k-ē-khó chúi chiũ-chhién-chhién,

when the tide is down the water is very shallow.

i kò-chiéⁿ mān-mān,

he rows very slowly.

ì-sṳ̀ hién-mêng,

the meaning is obvious.

tang-huang thàu-lâi ân-ân,

the east wind blows stiff.

huang chhue-lâi liâng-liâng,

the wind blows cool.

chí-hō-pēⁿ hong-hiám,

this kind of disease is dangerous.

chí-hō-pēⁿ oh-ui,

this kind of disease is hard to cure.

i chò-kâng la̍t-lo̍h,

he does work diligently.

tōa-kiaⁿ-kũ,

greatly afraid,

i siũ-liáu tōa-tōa kan-khóu,

he has already eeeree great hardship.

tit-tie̍h tōa-tōa o-ló,

he received great praise.

tōa-tōa tit-nâng o-ló,

greatly was he praised by people.

ũ-tōa-siaⁿ jiáng khí-lâi,

great clamor arose.

lṳ́ lâi-tõ tãi-jiáng,

when you come there is a great noise.

ũ gâu-sin-seⁿ lâi-chí-kà,

a wise teacher came and gave instruction.

pó-pùe kâi-mue̍h-kiãⁿ,

valuable articles.

pháiⁿ-nâng m̄-hó-ji̍p,

let not bad people enter.

ke-húe tōa-bô-ēng,

the sons are very useless.

phùa-saⁿ-khòu,

ragged clothes.
