As of September 2007, 44 of the 50 volumes have been converted into electronic versions and are available at: http://www.sacred-texts.com/sbe/

All of the books are in the public domain in the United States, and most or all are in the public domain in many other countries - see discussion at sacred-texts.com for details.

Looks more like a portal page

@Beeswaxcandle, @Mpaa: To me this page looks like it would be a Portal: type page with all its links rather than the main ns page. Thoughts? — billinghurst sDrewth 13:59, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

No objections to a move to Portal: , as it does seem roughly appropriate, but how is it different from Encyclopædia Britannica, Weird Tales, etc which are multi-edition/multi-volume over a long span of time? --John Vandenberg ^(chat) 03:31, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

As the page stands it is a Portal candidate (e.g. the main volume links are to the Index namespace). However, a parent page is still needed here to provide links to the mainspace subpages that are already in existence. I suggest that a suitable model is Ante-Nicene Christian Library. Thanks for you feedback Beeswaxcandle. If the presence of Index: links is the main primary issue, I would prefer to put in some effort now to create /Volume X subpages like StephenDaedalus (talk • contribs) kindly did with Volume I. IMO it would be preferable to have a single page, in one namespace, rather than two fairly similar pages in different namespaces.

If it is the layout of this page which is a significant issue of concern, then obviously pushing the current page into Portal: space is the way to go, and a less detailed page can replace it here in mainspace (and Ante-Nicene Christian Library would be a fine model). Thanks, clearly, I was too concise with my initial thoughts. Clearly we need to retain the main namespace aspects of the work, it was the organisational and curatorial components that I was proposing to be tabulated and moved to Portal: ns; with the work being the work. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:11, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Transliteration table

@EggOfReason: Not sure where a good place to link Sacred Books of the East/Transliteration of Oriental Alphabets so people know it exists and can use it is? @CalendulaAsteraceae: I did wonder where to link the new page under or near the {{AuxTOC}}. I imagine that further down the line when more volumes are readily transposed a more comprehensive directory sorted by religion can be added as well: the transliteration table can fit well in there, or even right now above or below the list of volumes in the green box.
