Talk:The New International Encyclopædia/Beaurepaire-Rohan, Henriques de
Wikipedia article
[edit]The NIE material also appears in The Encyclopedia Americana (1920). This fellow is obviously the same as "Beaurepaire-Rohan, Henry de," in Appletons' Cyclopædia of American Biography, New York: D. Appleton and Co. (1891), but is he the same as pt:Henrique Pedro Carlos de Beaurepaire-Rohan who died in the same year? A scan of that article for similar keywords (two works he wrote; names of places he explored) doesn't turn up anything, so I'm not convinced I've found him. Zeitschrift der Gesellschaft für Erdkunde zu Berlin does list his work Estudios acerca da organização da carta geographica e da historia physica e politica do Brazil (1877), but the Portuguese article only cites “Corografia da Província da Paraíba do Norte,” Revista do Instituto Histórico da Paraíba, 1911. I guess there is enough consistent I will give it a whirl. The only place I see a contradiction is in the place of birth. Both name him as a lieutenant-general. Appletons' mentions him as a major of engineers, and the Portuguese article also mentions his involvement in military engineering. My sources don't mention any political career or the minor literary work of the Portuguese article, and the Portuguese article doesn't mention exploration activity or the two (apparently major) literary works of my sources; this is odd, but perhaps they just complement each other.
