Love Loyal

Mary Catherine Rowsell – whose first book was The Spirit of the Giant Mountains (1864), a translation of about forty Rübezahl legends, including Musäus' – also published a three part novel Love Loyal (1878). This was also one of her early works. According to Wikipedia, "Her education in Belgium and Germany resulted in books based on German folk tales". It's worth checking whether this very long book (each of its three volumes has over three hundred pages) is based on Musäus' "Liebestreue". The book has been digitized by the British Library, and scans are available here:
