Feature request: include label of Wikidata item

[edit]

As the documentation states, for

{{AQID|Q27478536|John Moss}}

John Moss

the template renders the title attribute as:

English banker, railway promoter and slaveowner (1782–1858)

However, I have sometimes had cause to use the template where the displayed text is not the (full) name of the linked subject; cases like:

  • {{AQID|Q27478536|Mr. Moss}}
  • {{AQID|Q27478536|J. Moss}}
  • {{AQID|Q27478536|the headmaster}}

and so on. Another example would be a woman referred to in the document by a married name, whose item on Wikidata uses her maiden name as the label, or vice versa. There are many other likely scenarios.

In such cases - ideally always - I should like the template to render the label of the Wikidata item before its description, for example:

John Moss: English banker, railway promoter and slaveowner (1782–1858)

Can we make this change?

@Uzume, @عُثمان: who have kindly worked on this template previously. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:22, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Pigsonthewing Good idea, I have implemented this عُثمان (talk) 15:02, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@عُثمان: Thank you; but in those I've checked, I'm seeing titles like (for the above example): title="wikidata: English banker, railway promoter and slaveowner (1782–1858)". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:19, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Pigsonthewing I think I have corrected this now عُثمان (talk) 17:22, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@عُثمان: Yes, working now. Thank you. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:37, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@عُثمان: Nicely done, however, I reverted your 13379654 because I moved the category to the /doc page. Thank you, —Uzume (talk) 22:03, 1 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
