Media legend

[edit]

@CalendulaAsteraceae: Would it be possible to add media legend to the image from Wikidata? -- Jan Kameníček (talk) 15:28, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Jan.Kamenicek: probably, but what do you mean by "media legend"? Could you give an example? —CalendulaAsteraceae (talkcontribs) 05:14, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
For example, we have Portal:Libuše whose image is taken from d:Q610179. The image in that Wikidata item has also got the qualifier "media legend" ("Libuše and Přemysl"). Could the text from this media legend be used as a caption for the image in the Wikisource page? -- Jan Kameníček (talk) 09:55, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Or alternatively, allow adding the caption locally? -- Jan Kameníček (talk) 09:56, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, that makes sense! I expect it can be done, although I haven't quite figured out how. —CalendulaAsteraceae (talkcontribs) 19:05, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
And done! (The tricky part was making sure to only pull the caption from Wikidata if it's available in English.) —CalendulaAsteraceae (talkcontribs) 19:37, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
For the record, there's already an image-caption parameter. —CalendulaAsteraceae (talkcontribs) 19:38, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
