Template talk:TOC link

Billinghurst, John Vandenberg, Phe, I'm transcribing a book where every page is indexed (frontmatter aside). All the index pagenumbers are offset by seven from the pdf pages. I'd like to be able to use a format like this:
{{TOC link|+7|On the Wrekin and on the Great Coal-field of Shropshire|191}}
...where this would parse (191+7=198) exactly like:
{{TOC link|198|On the Wrekin and on the Great Coal-field of Shropshire|191}}
This would be a lot easier than doing the arithmetic my self each time. Would it be possible to overload the parameters like that? HLHJ (talk) 01:44, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- @HLHJ: I would suggest to note bother with the template. This process has pretty much been abandoned as it is of low value in the production space. — billinghurst sDrewth 02:07, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Billinghurst: You mean, having the links is useless? Or there's a better way to do it? (use case) HLHJ (talk) 02:09, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- There is no value in having the links as they appear in the Page: ns. — billinghurst sDrewth 12:34, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, billinghurst. I am really not familiar with the production process yet, but I'm happy to take your word for it until I am. I've paraphrased you in the doc for the sake of similarly-confused newbies, with credit in the summary, so I expect you've seen it. HLHJ (talk) 17:35, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
