ABBOTT, Wilbur Cortez, American educator: b. Kokoma, Ind., 28 Dec. 1869. After graduating from Wabash College in 1892 he took a post-graduate course at Cornell University, then studied at Oxford, where he received a degree of B. Litt. in 1897. From 1893 to 1895 he was instructor in history at Cornell. In 1897 he became instructor in history at the University of Michigan. Two years later he was appointed assistant professor of history in Dartmouth College; in 1902 professor of history in the University of Kansas, and in 1908 he was appointed professor of history at the Sheffield Scientific School, at Yale University. He is the author of ‘Colonel Blood, Crown Stealer’ (1911).
