ZERBI, or DE ZARBIS, Gabriel, Italian physician and anatomist: b. Verona in the 15th century; d. there, 1505. He lectured for some time at Rome, and became professor of medicine at Padua in 1495. His chief work is ‘Anatomy of the Human Body’ (‘Liber Anatomiæ Corporis humani’), published about 1490, a work remarkable for its keen insight and deductions confirmed by later discoveries in anatomy.
