Parekh, Goguldas Kahandas, B.A., LL.B., Bombay; b. at Umruth, 1847; educ: Elphinston School and College, Bombay; passed B.A., 1866; LL.B., 1870; joined Government High School, Surat, as teacher, 1871; resigned and set up practice, 1880; was engaged in defending the famous Surat Riot case; established an Anglo-vernacular School at Umruth; elected to Bombay Legislative Council, 1897; defended the cause of Gujarat people for a heavy land assessment in the famine of 1897; a Social reformer; attended the Social Conference held at Bombay, 1904.
