Rajagopala Chariar, Nallan Chakravarty, Rao Bahadur (1906), Managing Director, “Madras Times”, Madras; s. of N. C. Anantha Chariar; b. 1869; educ; Pachaiyappa’s and the Christian Colleges, Madras; began career as a shorthand teacher in the Commercial School attached to the Pachaiyappa’s College. Madras; joined the “Madras Times” as Junior Reporter, 1889; became Official Reporter to the Corporation of Madras, in addition to his work in the “Madras Times”; Official Reporter, Madras Legislative Council, 1893; Official Reporter to several sessions of the Indian National Congress; Reporter of the Indian Famine Commission, the Indian Irrigation Commission, and the Royal Indian Public Services Commission, 1898-1902, and 1914 respectively.
