The Tales of Ensign Stål (Swedish: Fänrik Ståls sägner) is an epic poem written in Swedish by the Finland-Swedish author Johan Ludvig Runeberg (1804–1877), the national poet of Finland. The poem was published in two collections, in 1848 and in 1860, and it describes the events of the Finnish War (1808–1809) in which Sweden lost its eastern territories to the Russian Empire.
