CRADLE SONG OF A SMALL SISTER.

Sweet cradle, I pray,
Rock my dear little brother.

Be careful not to wake him;
Otherwise I will need to keep watch.

Do not throw him to and fro;
For I would worry so.

Do not let him fall;
For you would make me cry out.

Do not throw him upside down,
That he may sleep to his heart's content.[1]

  1. Soûl (s.m.), from Latin "satullus," satisfied, fill, belly-full. Pour qu'il dorme tout son soûl; that he may sleep to his heart's content.
