Laws of breaking the bread
166: Law of pausing between breaking and washing.
1 There are those who say that one does not need to be careful from making an interruption between washing and saying the blessing over bread, and there are those who say that one must be careful, and it is good to be careful. (And if one lingered as much as it would take to walk 22 cubits, it is considered an interruption) (Tosafot, Ch. Elu Ne'emarin).
