This routing will be over several sections of a high type facility beginning southeast of Clare, thence southeasterly to U. S. Route 23 (Interstate Route 75) west of Bay City, thence southerly to present U. S. Route 10 north of Clio. Another section beginning at the intersection of Interstate Route 75 south of Flint, thence southerly with Interstate Route 75 to the intersection of Interstate Route 75 and present U. S. Route 10 northwest of Pontiac.

Recognition of a
Business Route
This routing would be over 2 sections in Midland. One section would extend due north from the northern terminus of present U. S. Route 10 Business Route to newly marked U.S. Route 10 (Interstate Route 75). The other section would be over a new section of highway (M-20) constructed in Midland north of the present location of M-20 connecting with newly marked U. S. Route 10 (Interstate Route 75) at eastern edge of Midland. The section of Business Route U. S. 10 between the junctions of old and new M-20 is to be deleted from the records on this route.

S. 12 east of Kalamazoo. Another section beginning at the intersection of present U. S. 12 and I-94 southwest of Battle Creek, thence easterly with I-94 by-passing Battle Creek, Marshall and Albion to junction with present U. S. Route 12 east of Albion. Another section beginning at the junction of Business Route U. S. 12 east of Jackson, thence easterly over Interstate Route 94 to junction with present U. S. Route 12. Another section beginning at the junction of Interstate Route 94 and present U. S. 12 west of Ann Arbor, thence east to an intersection with present U. S. Route 12 (Interstate Route 94). Also a short section beginning at the southeastern edge of Ypsilanti at the intersection of U. S. 112, Interstate Route 94 and present U. S. Route 12, thence easterly with Interstate Route 94 to the intersection with present U. S. 12.

This routing will be over several sections of high type highway beginning in Muskegon at intersection of present U. S. 16, Business Route U. S. 31 south of Muskegon Heights, thence southeasterly with I-196 bypassing Grand Rapids on the north and east sides to an intersection with Interstate Route 96, thence easterly with I-96 bypassing Lansing on the west and south sides, Howell on the south side to an intersection with present U. This routing follows Michigan Trunk Route 37 from a junction with newly marked U. S. 16: (I-196) south with M-37 into Grand Rapids, thence east with present U. S. 16 B. R. to a junction with U. S. 131 B. R., thence south on newly constructed M-37 to present U. S. 16 B. R. The section of U. S. 16 B. R. through Farmington is to be deleted as it wi11 be marked as "Off-Interstate System" Business Loop 96 (Green shield with white letters and numerals).

This routing begins at the junction of present U. S. 23 and a spur to Interstate Route 75 northwest of Bay City, thence southerly with I-75 bypassing Bay City on the west side to the junction of present U. S. 23 and M-81. Another action begins southwest of Saginaw at the junction of present U. S. 23 and I-75, thence southerly with I-75 to present U. S. 23 northwest of Clio. Another section begins at the intersection of present U. S. 23 and M-59, thence south on a new facility to a junction with present U. S. 23 and M-36. Also, beginning on present U. S. 23 north of Ann Arbor, thence over a new facility by-passing Ann Arbor on the north and east sides to a junction with present U. S. 23 near the Washtenaw-Monroe County line. Also, beginning a few miles south of the Monroe-Washtenaw County line on present U. S. 23, thence over a new facility paralleling former U. S. 23 via junction of old U. S. 23 and M-50 near Dundee, thence south to the Michigan-Ohio State line east of U. S. Route 223.

Recognition of a
Business Route
This routing would be over M-87 from junction with present U. S. 23 west of Fenton, thence east into Fenton, thence in a southwesterly direction over local highway to present U. S. 23. Also, beginning at the junction of present U. S. 23 and former U. S. 23 north of Ann Arbor, then follow former U. S. 23 southerly through Ann Arbor to junction with present U. S. 23 near the southeast corner of the city. Also, U. S. 23, B. R. in Bay City is to be deleted as that route wi11 became "Off-Interstate System" Business Loop 75. Also, U. S. 23 B. R. through Saginaw and south to present U. S. 23 is to be deleted as a portion of the route is to become Business Loop 75. (Off-Interstate System).
U. S. 24 A
Deletion of an Alternate Route
The section of U. S. 24A between the Michigan-Ohio State line has been constructed and marked as Interstate Route 75 and it is desired that all U. S. 24A markers on that route be removed and that portion of U. S. 24A be deleted from the records. This includes a spur connection south of Monroe and one just north of Flat Rock.

This routing will be over present U. S. 24 from the Michigan-Ohio State line northward to present junction of U. S. 24 and 25 north of Monroe. Present U. S. 25 is to be dropped from the State Trunk Highway system. Also, beginning at the junction of present U. S. 25 and M-29 north of Mt. Clemens, thence east to Interstate Route 94, thence northerly with I-94 to north junction of U. S. 25 A and present U. S. 25 north of Port Huron. A portion of U. S. 2S A between the north junction of present U. S. 25A and M-51 north to present U. s. 25 is being deleted from the records.

This routing in the vicinity of Charlotte will be over a high type facility bypassing the city on the east side, beginning a short distance south of the city limits and extending northerly to a junction with present U.S. 27. Also, beginning just south of Ithaca, thence northerly over a new high type facility via Alma, St. Louis, bypassing Mt. Pleasant on the east side, also Clare on the east and north sides, Harrison on the east side, to a junction with Interstate Route 75 and present U. S. 27 south of Grayling. Also, beginning at the south edge of Grayling at the interchange with present U. S. 27, I-75 and M-72, thence northerly along the east side of Grayling with I-75 to present U. S. 27 at Indian River.

Pleasant over former U. S. Route 27. Also, through the town of Clare over a spur connection on the south side of town to former U. S. 27, thence over former U. S. 27 to a junction with present U. S. 27 north of town. Also, over former U. S. 27 through the town of Harrison.

S. 31, U.S. 31 B.R. and I-96 south of Holland. Also, beginning south of Muskegon Heights at the junction of present U. S. 31 and a new high type facility just north of M-104 intersection, thence northerly to I-196 and U. S. 16. Also, beginning north of Muskegon at a junction with a new high type facility, thence northerly by-passing Whitehall and Montague on the east side to present U. S. 31 north of Montague.

This routing would follow State Route 6 westerly from Forsyth via Melstone, Roundup, Ryegate, Harlowton and White Sulpher Springs to Townsend, thence northwesterly with U. S. 10N via Helena to Garrison, thence westerly with U. S. 10 via Drummond to Missoula.
Action on this application deferred pending further investigation wherein the U. S. Route Numbering Committee authorized Mr. D. C. Greer (Chairman) and Mr. A. B. Johnson (Executive Secretary) to secure complete information on the ultimate extension of U. S. Route 12 now being proposed through the various States, during the AASHO meeting in Billings, Montana, later this month and carry the matter again on the agenda for the. 45th Annual Meeting of AASHO in Boston, Massachusetts in October 1959.

This routing would begin at the Kentucky-Ohio State line at Covington, thence southwesterly via Florence over U. S. 42 to junction with State Route 239, thence south on State Route 239 to Glencoe, thence over State Route 16 to U. S. 227, thence over U. S. Route 227 to Owenton, thence south over State Route 35 through Frankfort, Lawrrenceburg, Harrodsburg, Danville, Liberty, Jamestown and Albany to the Kentucky-Tennessee State line at Static.

(Tennessee Section)

This routing would follow Tennessee State Route 28 from the Tennessee-Kentucky State linee northeast of Byrdstown southerly via Jamestown, Crossville, Pikeville to Dunlop, thence over State Route 8 via Signal Mountain and Glendale into Chattanooga terminating at junction with U. S. 41 and 64.

The section proposed to be deleted from the records is not now carried in our "U.S. Numbered Highways" listing due to the fact it was originally considered a local marking problem and was not submitted for action to the Route Numbering Committee. For the purpose of clearing any records that may have been made on maps the section to be deleted is on Page Ave., Sheridan Ave, and Cass Ave. in the City of St. Louis between Union Ave, and 12th St. Trafficway.

(Missouri Section)

This routing will begin in Stanberry at the junction of present U. S. Route 136 and State Route 4, thence west and north to Ravenwood, thence west over State Routes 4 and 46 to Maryville, thence north and west over State Route 4 via Wilcox, Burlington Junction, Tarkio, Rock Port and Phelpss City to the Nebraska-Missouri State line on the Brownsville Bridge spanning the Missouri River, a total distance in Missouri of 75.8 miles. (The portion of U. S. Route 136 in Missouri now marked from Stanberry to St. Joseph, Missouri over U. S. Route 169 is to be discontinued and markers removed on this section which is approximately 41.3 miles in length).

(Nebraska Section)

This routing vill be over Nebraska State Route 3 beginning at the Missouri-Nebraska State line at the Missouri River at Brownsville following Nebraska State Route 3 westward via Auburn, Tecumseh, Beatrice, Pairbury, Deshler, Red Cloud, Franklin, Alma, Orleans and Oxford to U. S. Route 6 north of Edison, a distance of approximately 29.5 miles.

SOUTH CAROLINA

This routing would be over existing Alternate U. S. Route 29 from the North Carolina State line northeast of Blacksburg, southwesterly through Blacksburg, Gaffney, Cowpens, Spartanburg to the intersection with present U. S. Route 29 and Alternate U. S. Route 29 in Lyman, a distance of approximately 33 miles. The Alternate U. S. Route 29 markers would be removed from this section.

This routing would be over sections of Interstate Routes 126 and 26 beginning at the junction of Interstate Route 126 and present U. S. Route 76 near the intersection of Main Street and Elmwood Avenue in Columbia, thence running northwesterly approximately 3 miles to Interstate Route 26 thence continue northwesterly with Interstate Route 26 to a junction with present U. S. Routes 76 and 176 north of Irmo, a distance of approximately 7.5 miles.

This routing will leave present U. S. Route 276 about two miles southeast of Fountain Inn and will follow a recently constructed controlled access facility in a southeasterly direction passing north of Gray Court and Laurens and terminating at an intersection with Interstate Route 26 approximately 3 miles north of Clinton. The markings on present U. S. Route 276 from the beginning of this relocation into Laurens will be removed and that section of former U. S. Route 276 will be marked as South Carolina State Route 14.

The proposed marking for this route would begin in Kanab, Utah at the junction of present U. S. Route 89 and extend easterly over Utah Route Route 259 a distance of approximately 64 miles to the Arizona State line north of Glen Canyon Dam.

(Arizona Section)

This routing will follow a recently constructed high type highway from present U. S. 89 at Bitter Springs northerly, crossing the Colorado River at the new Glen Canyon Bridge, thence continuing northwesterly to the Arizona-Utah State line, a distance of approximately 34 miles.

This routing which is through a complete new area between U. S. Route 40, 23 miles west of Lovelock and Fallon, is 32.8 miles in length and extends practically due south from the above mentioned junction with U.S. 40 to Fallon.

This routing will follow former U. S. Route 95 and present U. S. Route 40 from a point 23 miles west of Lovelock southwesterly via Hot Springs to Fernley Junction. Thence in a southeasterly direction via Hasen to Fallon (present U. S. Route 95), a distance of approximately 61.4 miles.

This routing will follow present location of U. S. Route 101 along Ventura Blvd. in Los Angeles from Vineland Avenue to an intersection with the Ventura Freeway in the Woodland Hills District. Local authorities will maintain the business route signs on this routing, approximately 14.8 miles in length.

This routing will begin at the present junction of U. S. 301 and U. S. 50 (Annapolis-Washington Expressway), thence easterly with U. S. 50 via Annapolis, crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to the junction of Maryland State Route 71, thence over State Route 71 northeasterly to the Maryland-Delaware State line. (A distance of 73 miles). Present U.S. 301 and U. S. 301 B. R. leading into Baltimore from U. S. 50 will be deleted from the U. S. Route Numbered system and assigned a State Route number by the Maryland State Road Commission.

(Delaware Section)
Interim Designation

This routing begins on Delaware S. R. 71. at the Delaware-Maryland State line then runs northeasterly with S. R. 71 to S. R. 299 in Middletown. Northbound traffic will be routed over S. R. 299 to U. S. 13 at Odessa, then north over U. S. 13 ending at the junction with U. S. 40 at State Road. Southbound traffic will leave U. S. 13 at junction with S. R. 71 at Tybouts Corner, then southwesterly with S. R. 71 via Red Lion, Kirkwood over a slight detour near the Chesapeake-Delaware Canal over recently constructed high level Summit Bridge and approaches thereto (part of a future location for new U. S. 301) then back to present S. R. 71 via Mt. Pleasant and Armstrong to Middletown, there joining the northbound route previously described herein. (When future plans are completed an entire new facility will be completed between the Maryland-Delaware State line southwest of Middletown and Interstate 95 southeast of Newark and Delaware proposes to switch U. S. 301 to that location).

This routing would begin at the west city limits of Richmond on U. S. 360, thence southwesterly with U. S. 360 to Virginia State Route 49, thence southerly via Creve, The Falls, Victoria, Chase City, Clarkeville and Virgilina to the North Carolina State line.

(North Carolina Section)

This routing would begin at the Virginia State line on North Carolina State Route 49, thence southwesterly via Roxboro, Carr, Graham, Liberty, Ramseur, Farmer, Harrisburg, Charlotte to the South Carolina State line southwest of Charlotte.

(South Carolina Section)

This routing would begin at the South Carolina State line at South Carolina State Route 49, thence southwesterly via York, Sharon, Bullock Creek, Lockhart to Union, thence over U. S. 176 southerly via Whitmire to State Route 19, thence southerly via Helena, Newberry, Saluda, Johnston to U. S. 29 at Trenton, thence southerly with U. S. 25 to the Georgia State line at Augusta.

This routing would begin at the South Carolina State line in Augusta on U. S. 25. thence south and west with U. S. 25 to U. S. 278, thence west with U. S. 278 to Warrenton, thence southwesterly on Georgia State Route 16 to BSparta, thence southwest on S. R. 22 to S. R. 24 east of Milledgeville, thence West on S. R. 24 to S. R. 49 in Milledgeville, thence southwesterly on S. R. 49 via Macon, Byron, Fort Vally, Marshallville, Montezuma, Oglethorpe and Andersonville to S. R. 3 in Americus, thence south with S. R. 3 via Smithville, Leesburg, Albany and Baconton to S.R. 112 in Camilla, thence southerly with S. R. 112 to S. R. 111 in Cairo, thence soutwesterly with S. R. 111 via Reno to the Florida state line at Darcy south of Calvary.

(Florida Section)

This routing would begin at the Georgia State line on U. S. 27 at Darcy thence southerly to Florida State Route 12 at Havana, thence westerly with S. R. 12 via Littman, Quincy and Greensboro to S. R. 20 at Bristol, thence west with S. R. 20 to S. R. 71 in Blountstown, thence southerly with S. R. 71 to S. R. 22 at Wewahitchka, thence west with S. R. 22 to Panama City, Florida.
