The proposed marking of an Alternate Route U. S. 1 would begin on U. S. 1 in Columbia and run south on U. S. 21-176 and 321 about 6 miles, thence southerly on U. S. 321 to S. C. State Route 3 south of Swansea, thence southwesterly on S. C. State Route 3 via Springfield and Blackwell to S. C. State Route 37 at Barmwell, then southerly on S. C. State Route 37 via Baldock to U. S. 301 southwest of Allendale, thence southwest on U. S. 301 to the Georgia-South Carolina State line, thence over Georgia State Route 73 and U. S. 301 via Sylvania and Statesboro to Claxton, thence west over U. S. 280 to Georgia State Route 169, thence south on S. R. 169 and S. R. 64 via Surrency to S. R. 121, thence south over S. R. 121 via Bristol, Blackshear and Hoboken to U. S. 1 northwest of Folkston.
DENIED inasmuch as the proposed routing does not meet the desired standards and if and when it does, it should be considered for marking as U. S. Route 1 since it seems to be more direct.

The route will follow State Route 90, a new high standard road, from a point 1 mile east of Dexter, eastward to Commerce then north 5.1 miles on new location (Interstate 35) to present U. S. 6. Two railroad crossings and congested areas west of Des Moines are eliminated.

This routing will be over a newly constructed freeway from a point on old U. S. 6 northeast of Fremont, westerly to present U. S. 6 and U. S. 20 junction northwest of Fremont. The old route through Fremont has been turned back to the county and city street systems.

This routing will be over a recently constructed freeway on new location from N. Baltimore to present U. S. 25 southwest of Findlay, thence over present route by-passing Bluffton, Beaverdam on the southeast side of each to a point 2 miles northeast of Lima, then south and west around Lima on new location, thence southwesterly past Cridersville and bypassing Wapakoneta on the east and south to present U. S. 25 west of Wapakoneta. This routing is also designated Interstate Route 75.

Section)
Another section of this route will be routed over a recently constructed freeway running northward from Dayton on the old route to a junction with U. S. 40 east of Vandalia, then on new location northward along the west side of Tipp City, Troy, the east side of Pique, the west side of Sidney to a point on present U. S. 25 north of Sidney.
MONTANA U. S. 12
Relocation
This routing which involves a major change, begins in Forsyth then follows State Route 6 westerly via Roundup, Ryegate, Harlowton, White Sulphur Springs, to Townsend, thence northerly over U. S. 10N through Helena to junction with U. S. 10S, thence westerly over U. S. 10 to Missoula. This routing will eliminate the southern routing of U. S. 12 but a companion request asks that old U.S. 12 be designated and marked U. S. 12A.
DEFERRED and the Department has been requested to review the whole U. S. System and warrants in Montana especially as the complexities of Routes 10 and 12 are involved.

This routing will follow present U. S. 12 and U. S. 10 routes from Forsyth southwest through Billings to Laurel, thence over old U. S. 12 via Red Lodge to Wyoming State line, thence through Wyoming and Yellowstone Nacional Park to West Yellowstone, thence north on U. S. 191 8 miles to junction vith S. R. 1. thence northerly on S. R. 1 to U. S. 10S west of Three Forks, thence west and north on U. S. 10S through Butte to U. S. 10A south of Anaconda, then northerly over U.S. 10A to U. S. 10 (Proposed U. S. 12 also) at Drummond.

S. 54 at the intersection with U. S. 52 approximately 2 miles south of the city.

Proposed marking would extend U. S. 331 from its present northern terminus in downtown Hontgomery over U. S. 231 north through Wetumpka, Sylacauga, Talladega and Lincoln to U. S. 431 in Attalla, thence northerly over U. S. 431 through Albertsville and Guntersville to Henryville, then northeasterly over State Route 79 to U. S. 72 at Scottsboro.
ACTION WITHHELD and the Alabama State Highway Department has been requested to undertake a study in cooperation with the U. S. Route Numbering Committee with a view to simplifying the U. S. Route Numbering System in the State.

This routing would begin at the north limits of Big Bend National Park on State Route 51 thence northward with S. R. 51 via Marathon, Fort Stockton, McCamey, Odessa, Seminole, Brownfield, Littlefield, Hereford, Vega and Dalhart to connect with Oklahoma State Route 134 at the Texas-Oklaboma State Line south of Boise City, Oklahoma.

This routing will begin at the Oklahoma-Texas State line at the confluence of Texas State Route 51 and Oklahoma State Route 134, thence northward to U. s. 64 southwest of Boise City, thence northeast to U. S. 287 in Boise City, thence north with U. S. 287 to Oklahoma-Colorado State line south of Campo, Colorado.

This routing will be over U. S. 287 from the Colorado-Oklahoma state line northward via Springfield, Lamar and Eads to U. S. 40 at Kit Carson, thence east with U.S. 40 to Cheyenne Wells, thence north on Colorado State Route 51 via Burlington, Wray, Holyoke and Julesburg to U.S. 138 thence vast with U.S. 138 3.7 miles thence northwest to the Colorado-Nebraska State line southeast of Chappell, Nebraska

This routing will begin on the Nebraska-Colorado State line on Nebraska State Route 27, thence northwest to U. S. 30 in Chappall thence westerly with U. S. 30 to State Route 19 1 mile east of Sidney, thence northward with State Route 19 via Bridgeport, Northport, Alliance, Chadron, and Wayside to the Nebraska-South Dakota State line.

City, Chula Vista,
Palm City and San
Ysidro
This routing will follow present location of Alt. U. S. 101 through the area between National City and extending southward to a point, south of San Ysidro just north of the International Border between the United States and Mexico. The markers will be installed by the California Division of Highways and afterward will be maintained by the City and County Departments involved.
OKLAHOMA U. S. 169 Extension
(For reconsideration)
Proposed marking would extend U. S. 169 from its present southern terminus at Glenpool southerly through Okmulgee, Henryetta, Weleetka, Wetumka, Calvin, Ada and Tishomingo to Hadill (U. S. 70).
The conditional approval given by the Executive Committee to this application at its June 26th, 1958 meeting was re-affirmed and extended, as the revised application does not indicate that any appreciable improvements in standards have been made and therefore does not qualify for inclusion in the U. S. System.
