ORDINANCE
NUMBER 18
27 October 1945
- The name of the Bureau of Public Health is hereby changed to the Bureau of public Health and Welfare
- The following duties and funcuions are hereby assigned to the Bureau of Public Health and Welfare in addition th those preciously assigned to the Bureau of Health :
- a. Emergercy and disaster relief
- b. Public assistance to permanently needy individuals
- c. Child welfare and other institutional care.
- d. Employee welfare and pension systems.
- e. Housing
- f. Care and telocation of repatriated and displaced Koreans, in coordination with Foreign Affairs Section of the Secretariat.
- g. Such other public welfare programs and agencies now in existence as may be required to aid in achieving the aims of the occupational forces in Korea.
- All duties, functions, records, property and civilian personnel of the followeing organizations are hereby transferred to the Bureau of Puvlic Health and Welfare :
- a. Social Welfare Department of the Bureau of Education
- b. War Refugee Division of the Defense Department of the Bureau of Police.
- c. Protection Dicision of the Foerign Affairs Section of the Secretariat.
- d. Relief Society of Chosen for Laborers and War Sufferers of the Bureau of Mining and Industry
- This order is effective at midnight 27 October 1945.
