Chap. XXIV.—An Act directing the Secretary of the Treasury to cause the coast of North Carolina, between Cape Hatteras and Cape Fear, to be surveyed.
Secretary of the Treasury to cause the coast of N. Carolina to be surveyed, to report to Congress on the practicability of erecting a lighthouse.
Appropriation.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby directed, to cause the coast of North Carolina to be correctly surveyed, between Cape Hatteras and Cape Fear; together with the shoals lying off and between these respective capes, or head lands, and to report at the next session of Congress on the practicability of erecting a lighthouse, lighted beacon or buoy, on or near the extreme point of these shoals, or either of them. And the sum of five thousand dollars is hereby appropriated for the purpose of defraying any expense which may be incurred in making such survey, to be paid out of any money in the treasury, not otherwise appropriated.
