Chap. XL.—An Act in addition to an act intituled “An act in addition to an act entituled An act supplementary to the act providing for a naval peace establishment, and for other purposes.”
Act of April 21, 1806, ch. 35.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President of the United States be, and he is hereby authorized, in addition to the present naval peace establishment, to employ a number of able seamen, ordinary seamen and boys, not exceeding five hundred, should the exigency of the public service require the same.
