Chap. XLI.—An Act authorizing the discharge of Daniel Updike from his imprisonment.
To be released from imprisonment.Be it enacted, &c., That Daniel Updike, of North Kingstown, in the county of Washington, and state of Rhode Island, now confined in prison in said county, on a judgment obtained against him in favor of the United States, be discharged from his imprisonment: Provided, however, That he shall first assign and convey all the estate, real or personal, which he may now own or be entitled to, to some person or persons, for the use and benefit of the United States, under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury, for the purpose of satisfying said judgment: And provided, also, That any estate, real or personal, which the said Daniel Updike may hereafter acquire, shall be liable to be taken in satisfaction of said judgment, in the same manner as if he had not been imprisoned and discharged.
