Styling on The Well of Loneliness

[edit]

Two things:

  1. Some of the scan uses straight apostrophes and some use curly/typographic ones. We should settle on one consistently. I'll defer to you as the person who started transcribing, but unless I'm mistaken, even pages you've transcribed used both.
  2. Why did you remove a non-breaking space in "Sir Phillip"?

Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM 23:53, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

1. I've defaulted to using straight apostrophes, but I've probably not been too consistent about replacing the curly apostrophes. My apologies.
2. I'm not particularly sure why we would need a non-breaking space there? If there is a guideline on this, please do point me to that. Based5290 (talk) 00:00, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
  1. No need to apologize friend: just didn't want it to get too far without having a standard.
  2. There are no real guidelines on using non-breaking spaces, I'm just trying to use best judgement about when we would or wouldn't want a line break. I think that the former is superior to the latter:
    "She spoke to
    Sir Phillip"
    "She spoke to Sir
    Phillip"

Yeah, fair. I've re-added the non-breaking space. Thanks for pointing that out. Based5290 (talk) 01:56, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
