Welcome to Wikisource

Hello, Ed Erhart (WMF), and welcome to Wikisource! Thank you for joining the project. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Hey thanks, Billinghurst! I'm here trolling for Wikimedia Blog post potential. :-) So if you're interested, I'm working on a new blog series that will be simply titled "Why I ...," which will have Wikimedians from around the world discuss why they write articles on X, take photos of y, transcribe books from z, etc. Would you be interested in writing up four or five paragraphs? If so, head my way. The first one is here, but I'd really like this to be an opportunity for non-Wikipedia projects to shine as well! Ed Erhart (WMF) (talk) 23:13, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst: Fixing mangled ping. Ed Erhart (WMF) (talk) 23:14, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Moohahahaaaaaaaa. We got you with our abbreviated use of the underline template — ugly beast that it is and thank goodness it isn't used much in old works. Thanks for that prod. I will think about whether I can string enough interesting words together. I would also like to wave this under the eyes of Londonjackbooks who has done much of our presentation of women poets, especially with concentration on a couple specifically. I think that she may have an interesting story, especially as another of our unyoung editors. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:46, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst: Yes you did, I assumed too much from en.wp. ;-) I would love to have more from Wikisource on the blog, both from you and Londonjackbooks (please write something up!). You can do it on Meta or in a Google Doc, whatever is more convenient for you. Ed Erhart (WMF) (talk) 06:43, 26 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have written a few lines, but will run it by my husband first for his opinion... Thanks for the nod! Londonjackbooks (talk) 17:51, 26 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Londonjackbooks: I'd be happy to look it over too, just let me know! Ed Erhart (WMF) (talk) 19:44, 26 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have created a Google Document of my proposed draft. I am not familiar with how to share/send it (it being my first Google Document), so some instruction would be great (share with what email address? share to edit, to comment, or to view?). Do I need to share my RL name in the piece, or can I use my User name? The draft includes two images freely available at Commons, as well as links and a footnote. Some of the links perhaps should be footnotes, but I will leave that to the experts. No problem if it is not what you are looking for. Be merciless! Much thanks, and apologies for all the questions! Thanks, Londonjackbooks. In order:
  1. In the top right of the screen you'll see "share"—can you add eerhart@wikimedia.org to it? If you can give me edit rights, that'll be great (I'll make suggested edits that you can go through and approve or reject).
  2. We prefer real names because we think it helps non-Wikimedians connect with the posts, but it is by no means required.
  3. I will let you know about the footnotes when I see it, but in general links are fine. :-)
  4. Ask all of the questions! I am literally paid to find and help people get their stories out, so ask whatever you need. :-)
Billinghurst, I'm still interested in hearing from you as well. :-) Ed Erhart (WMF) (talk) 20:07, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
