@Billinghurst:. @Tks4Fish: - Hi there, I'm hoping you can assist us. This user (@Ewarusin:, a member of our staff) can no longer make any edits and instead gets a message saying that she has been blocked by Tks4Fish for "Cross-Wiki vandalism". Can you please explain what this is, and how we can go about unblocking this user? Thanking you in advance! LilacRoses (talk) 17:53, 30 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@LilacRoses: My check on the Ewarusin's user account doesn't show any direct application of a lock, so it is probable that the issue is related to an IP block (specific IP or part of an IP range). I have taken measures to temporarily resolve such an issue locally. Admins cannot see IP data of a user, so I cannot be definitive, but the block message received will indicate if it is an IP block.
Ewarusin can review m:Global IPBE for information of the issue and for a global (WMF-wide) solution, and apply for that global exemption at m:SRGP. — billinghurst sDrewth 20:45, 30 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst: Thank you very much! I will direct her to this discussion. As far as I can understand, the message she received was "Your IP address is in a range that has been blocked on all Wikimedia Foundation wikis" (IP address 92.40.194.219, blocked range being 92.40.192.0/20). I believe this might be an IP for a mobile phone network. LilacRoses (talk) 07:34, 31 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@LilacRoses: We are on Ewarusin's talk page, they will know!!! The pasted information aligns with what I said, and will definitely be resolved by my action here.
@Tks4Fish: special:globalblocklist/92.40.194.219 and 92.40.194.219 would you be able to dial the block back to be anon-only, as full block may be too heavy. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:26, 31 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Billinghurst, @LilacRoses: I've changed the block to anonymous-only, so Ewarusin should be able to edit normally. If that's not the case, please let me know. Sorry for the problems caused. Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 14:47, 31 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
