9/11 Dispatcher transcript

[edit]

Are you making changes to more closely match the source document that is identified at the outset of the page, or are you making editorial changes to match the audio? Our source text is what we are presenting; we do not alter source texts, even when they contain errors. Doing so misrepresents our source. There are several ways to handle such errors, but the first stepo is to ensure that you understand that Wikisource is faithful to the sources we present, even if that means replicating errors. --EncycloPetey (talk) 21:04, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Petey, I responded at the ANI thread.
In short, the answer to your first question is that I've made editorial changes to match the audio.
I did this with the assumption that there is no independent textual transcript available for the Melissa Doi call. I fully respect the principle that you describe, but I don't believe an independent source for the transcript actually exists.
I'm not sure how to proceed because I don't know if Wikisource allows for user-generated transcripts of audio material. Should we just delete the Melissa Doi transcript? LoopyBreeze (talk) 06:41, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
It looks as though User:Xover has responded to that issue in the work's Talk page. --EncycloPetey (talk) 14:37, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
