Hello!

[edit]

Hi Daniel, I just noticed your note on my old Wikimedia staff account. That's no longer active, but feel free to get in touch on this account or by email! I am not particularly expert at the technology of mass importing, but it is certainly of interest. -Pete (talk) 19:58, 2 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Pete - I am still exploring the technicalities, and am currently contemplating to start with the bulk upload of suitably licensed images onto Commons rather than with complete articles onto Wikisource, which may be a next step. -- Daniel Mietchen - WiR/OS (talk) 20:17, 2 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Excellent. Will you be at WikiSym, by chance? Maybe we can discuss in person. -Pete (talk) 13:29, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Nope - I am attending the Open Access Days conference in Regensburg, Germany until Wednesday. -- Daniel Mietchen - WiR/OS (talk) 15:17, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata flag for "digital document"

[edit]

Hi. To note that there is now the ability to flag/badge a document at Wikidata as "digital document". With that we should be able to indicate that such works are not part of the proofreading cycle, nor need to be. I am yet to do anything at this end to propagate that information, though suspect we will utilise a framework like that used by the WPs for their quality framework. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:13, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hadn't seen that — which property are you referring to, billinghurst? -- Daniel Mietchen (talk) 01:18, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
d:Help:Badges is a component of the interwiki link. Its use is new, and was set up for noting proofreading status, though we have added the ability to identify digital documents (ie. modern works without scans where we have scraped the text). I haven't worked out its internal architecture and use (as mentioned). A typical addition at WD is https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q19110976&diff=prev&oldid=446808666billinghurst sDrewth 01:46, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again — looks promising, but I have yet to fully wrap my head around it. -- Daniel Mietchen (talk) 14:05, 13 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
