Petropavlovsk Resolution

[edit]

This was originally written in English? If not, then this English translation may be under copyright. --EncycloPetey (talk) 20:47, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

@EncycloPetey:The translators released the text under fair use copyright in this page of marxists.org. If the article constitutes a copyright violation then I'd be pleased to delete it.--Jamez42 (talk) 21:41, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
If I'm reading your notes correctly, this translation was published in The Anarchists in the Russian Revolution, by Paul Avrich, and which is under copyright through Cornell Press © 1973. If that is the case, then a third party cannot claim to "release" it into the public domain. Only the copyright holder can do that. --EncycloPetey (talk) 21:52, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@EncycloPetey: I understand; does that mean that the resolution needs another source or translation? There also this source that was cited in Wikipedia's article about the Kronstadt rebellion--Jamez42 (talk) 21:57, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
There are two ways we could support a translation here: (1) Find a published English translation that is in public domain, use their copy, and cite that source. (2) Find a copy of the original non-English text, support it on the appropriate language Wikisource with a scan, and create an English translation de novo with the assistance of speakers of that language. --EncycloPetey (talk) 22:35, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@EncycloPetey: I'll go with (1). The Internet Archive published under public domain The Kronstadt Rebellion, which includes the resolution.--Jamez42 (talk) 23:06, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
