Welcome to my talk page. Please sign any messages and I'll try to respond reasonably soon if appropriate. I may not be a frequent contributer here but I seem to have become a frequent editor at Wikipedia. If you want to direct my attention to this page, leave a message at my Wikipedia talk page that I have a message here. I'm pretty sure to see that soon. If you leave a message on this page I should be automatically notified of a User talk page change and know to look here. Refrigerator Heaven (talk) 04:46, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Small Town
[edit]Just so's you know, some work has been done to make ready your uploaded story. Some explanation of the changes made is given at the Requests for assistance page where you first posted comment. Should be good to go! AKA Londonjackbooks 19:57, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
Small Town text
[edit][/sandbox002] has the text of "Small Town" pasted in for reference and copying in initial proofreading. The layout needs changes as some of the formatting, like paragraph indents, got lost when pasting it in but the OCR errors have been cleaned up which should give a nice headstart. Later I can probably see how to fix the formatting problems but this should be very helpful unless the Wikisource software does a much better OCR than the software I used offline. I hope this will be helpful. Refrigerator Heaven (talk) 03:52, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Conflation
[edit]Don't conflate copyright protection in the sense of obtaining federal copyright and the sense of obtaining standing to sue for infringement. Greatly oversimplifying; for the times of interest to Wikisource unpublished literary works were protected by common law copyright. Upon first publication this ended and federal copyright was obtained or not depending on whether first publication was with notice (and met the other formalities).
Pub. with no notice = immediate entry into the public domain
Pub. with notice = 28 years of federal copyright (PROTECTION)
Pub. with notice plus registration = 28 years of federal copyright with standing to sue for infringement (EFFECTIVE PROTECTION)
Also remember registration could be made any time during the first term of copyright and was a prerequisite to obtaining a second term of copyright because a second term could only be obtained by renewing a first term registration. Federal law was specific about who could renew registration and what a clamant could renew. This, of course, is why a single registration could generate multiple registration renewals by different "people" claiming copyright in different works of which they were "author" or successor in interest. E.g, PCW for a "compiled work" by publisher as author, renewal of an individual contribution by author of the contribution or by statutory claimant such as widow or child if author was deceased.
Open your eyes, time to wake up,

The previous post which is a partial condensed version of something written by Refrigerator Heaven was of an experimental nature not meant to be puppetry or create the appearance of puppetry. Neither was it intended to create embarrassment or otherwise bother anyone. One significant part not mentioned related to generational gaps of what constitutes common knowledge and how that affects interactions between writers of different ages even within the same nationality or culture. 199.250.57.231 23:43, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
