Talk. Talk page.

It was said that I needed to write a talk page. And here I am writing a talk page.

Nobody said that. They didn't talk.

You are reading this, not talking it.

Live templates, please hack in its sandbox

[edit]

Hi. Please do not hack live templates in that fashion. Please utilise the template's sandbox, and create its testcases to demonstrate that you have things working prior to publishing the update. Looking at your hack, it would seem that you are looking to become and replace the header. If that is the case, I would recommend that you look to excise parts to subpages of the template rather than build all that complexity into base template. I have reverted your edits to the stable template, you can grab what you need from the history and take it to the sandbox. Thanks for your understanding. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:31, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I am actually in the process of transitioning every single page that use that template to the new one. Since your revert, many current pages are broken already. The current version of the template is already stable, and also I am currently in the process of splitting the template into subpages. Please wait first before reverting as this interrupted my workflow. Thanks. — 🍕 Yivan000 viewtalk 10:01, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Different templates

[edit]

Hi, can you help me work out creating two different templates for Philippine Laws, Act 1-1800 is by the United States Philippine Commission, while the succeeding were by the Philippine Legislature. Namayan (talk) 23:44, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

There's also trouble with templates of Republic Acts, "Metro Manila" was used for the header, but Metro Manila did not exist yet from the first to seventh congress of the Philippines. Namayan (talk) 00:04, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Okay. The Acts can be solved using the #ifexpr: parser function (no need for separate templates hahah), and the Metro Manila problem can be solved by adding another optional parameter called place. I will default it to Metro Manila for the template to be easier to use for recent laws but can be overridden for past laws.
Alternatavely, on what RA specifically did it shift into having "Metro Manila" in its header? If so then I can implement it to automatically add or remove the place. But for now, that'll do.
You may change these later if that's incorrect (the number where Philippine Legislature starts & the name of the place for RAs). I already gone ahead and implemented this.
Cheers and thanks for letting me know! — 🍕 Yivan000 viewtalk 04:40, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
That's a relief thank you very much. Do you have plans, however for the laws and decrees of the First Philippine Republic? Namayan (talk) 06:15, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
We can add them, as long as we have a reliable source for them. — 🍕 Yivan000 viewtalk 08:28, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Publications by the National Historical Commission though. By the way, do you retain the original text if it has been amended and indicated also that it has been amended in its info box summary? Namayan (talk) 05:55, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yep, as much as possible it should be the original text. — 🍕 Yivan000 viewtalk 08:25, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
