SCHARFF, Waiter (SHANGHAI), Merchant; b. Feb. 15, 1866. Educ.: Royal Gymnasium, Brieg; Commercial Academy, Gera, Germany. Started commercial career in London, 1884; arrived in China, 1888, started business on own account in 1895; in 1896 introduced modern flour milling into China by the formation of the China Flour Mill Co., Ltd., which Company built and worked the first flour mill plant; General Manager and Director of the C.F.M.
