2008-01 admin
As far as I know, Cowardly Lion's first involvement in WMF was joining this project a little over a month ago to add a few George Eliot works, and has ended up with a bit more than he bargained for, racking up over 1,000 edits and patrolling 5,000 revisions in such a short time. In addition, he has spread his wings, uploading to commons and participating in deletion discussions there, copyediting on Meta, tagging Wikipedia pages with "{{Wikisource}}" to promote Wikisource and creating w:Kempy Kay. Based on this comment we may see participation drop a little bit, but I am confident that quality will not.
Quick, give this man the mop to ground him here before he writes too many more Wikipedia articles and we lose him. John Vandenberg 15:51, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Note, this is another surprise nomination, so please wait until the user accepts. :-)
- Wow! I was thinking recently that I'd like to be an administrator, but was not expecting a nomination so soon. I accept with thanks, but acknowledge that I still find myself occasionally having to ask someone what's the correct template to use, or how to format something. If this nomination is successful, I'll still be learning, and I'll still need to ask for guidance sometimes, but hope that the tools will make it possible for me to help in more ways. If people feel they'd prefer me to be around for a few more months first, I won't mind at all. (I might even agree with them!) Cowardly Lion 17:36, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Support His humble and cautious acceptance is one reason that I trust this relatively new Wikisource editor with the tools. He is an active editor and can use his tools now to help out. All admins learn on the job. We have a great group of admins here that will offer advice and assistance if needed. I see no reason to wait any longer. Put him to work on the admin squad. :) FloNight 19:49, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Support. Definitely a good egg. —Quadell (talk/swapmeet) 20:46, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Support, I like Jay's idea of quickly promoting quality users so that they feel special, and choose to concentrate on Wikisource where they can brag they are "an administrator", rather than returning to another project and depriving us of their
brute labourgenius work. Sherurcij Collaboration of the Week: Wikisource:Sheet music 00:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC) - Support I have been impressed by Cowardly Lion and have no doubt he should be upgraded. I have patrolled quite a few of his edits, so making him an admin will save my time!--Poetlister 17:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
