2006-12 admin
- For the sake of archival, the bundled nomination has been duplicated for each user.
This is a bundled self-nomination. The first applicant is the bot of the second applicant.
By request, I'm planning to do soft redirect maintenance using the pywikipedia script User:TalBot/rm-soft-redir.py. This involves the deletion of hundreds of pages, so a bot with sysop privileges is needed. The script was tested in several dry runs directly on Wikisource. The log of the run on Category:Soft redirects/September 2006 is available at User:TalBot/rm-soft-redir.py/test.log (943kb).
TalBot is active since October 2006 and was granted official bot status about a month later. It has since run and completed several tasks, making thousands of automated edits and page moves in the process.
I (GrafZahl) am active since June 2006. At the moment, most of my Wikisource time flows into operating and maintaining TalBot and writing bot scripts for users requesting tasks, but occasionally I work a little on some of James Clerk Maxwell's works or scan some pages from a book. A bot operator sometimes has to clean up after the bot, and with a sysop bot, this might require sysop rights. Otherwise, I missed the admin buttons very little. But it seems natural that the amount of community trust granted to the bot operator should never be smaller than the amount granted the bot.
I'd like to ask for a single vote for the both of us, because there is not much point in giving sysop rights to only one of us.
Lastly, I should point out the alternative of giving the bot of an established administrator sysop rights and let it run the script. This might slow down things very slightly due to the additional communications channel incurred, but is otherwise just as good.

- Support both. GrafZahl has been a strong contributor since early June and has demonstrated a skill in programming that makes them an ideal choice for running an administrative bot. Their messages on various talk pages show unfailing politeness and helpfulness, qualities every administrator should have. —{admin} Pathoschild 19:35, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

- Support. GrafZahl has been under-active but on review of crosswiki indicates the user is still peaking in around the WMF sites. While I would generally like to see more edits and activity, the little activity I do, indicates a continued interest and that the account is secure. This user is also the owner of the only admin bot on wikisource, I am giving extra credit for activity on MediaWiki. Grafzahl has had decreasing activity in the last few years, hopefully that will pick back up, though if the trend continues… JeepdaySock (AKA, Jeepday) 10:55, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

- Oppose GrafZahl and TalBot have not been very active during the past few years, and GrafZahl does not seem interested in actively participating in Wikisource at this time. GrafZahl made Talbot available for migration to Wikisource without GrafZahl intervention, and GrafZahl will answer any questions when time allows. But GrafZahl is not significantly active now here on Wikisource, and he/she does not seem to be interested in becoming more active in the forseeable future. I see no point in retaining this user/bot as a Wikisource Administrator. The public assumes that Wikisource Administrators are active on a daily or weekly basis, not every few months or so. That is why I oppose this nomination -- but DEFINITELY with HIGH REGARD to GrafZahl for prior contributions and important bot development for Wikisource. I HOPE this user considers returning to more actively helping Wikisource when time allows! :) -- Outlier59 (talk) 02:38, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

- Question: In the last discussion, Outlier59 stated that GrafZahl "made Talbot available for migration to Wikisource without GrafZahl intervention". I see that Talbot has not edited in over a year, so was such a migration not brought about? Were Talbot's functions transferred to another bot? BD2412 T 20:51, 2 November 2017 (UTC)
- GZ pointed to the code, though it didn't run seamlessly, well, it just failed. So, not happened, though Wikisource-bot clearly is available to run it. It would seem that RL has captured GrafZahl. — billinghurst sDrewth 00:19, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
